Impressions

Just a simple leather case
which I hold in my hands
Delicate, gold frames resting on a bed of felt
holding two pieces of matching glass.

I remember them
framing her eyes
looking back at me -- two sparkling jewels
magnifying the wisdom of her years.

Only a pair of glasses to others
Inspected closely -- the remains of her fingerprints can be seen
Impressions -- just as the memories
left behind in my mind.

Property of Joy Elaine -- September 4, 2000
