There is an emptiness, a void, in all lives. The world changes constantly, and along with these uncontrollable changes. People find memories, objects that can be held and touched, as well as the innumerable innate possibilities, which connect them to the life that once was. To survive, humanity tries to hold on to the past; but sometimes holding on drives a person to their fate.

The Goth family rebelled against technology, and the belief systems of a new generation of people who were taking over. Mortimer desperately tried to hold on to the past and the simple ways of life.

When Mortimer's wife Bella disappeared and was never found, he focused his attention on his daughter Cassandra. Cassandra was raised with the impression that no man was ever good enough for her. Mortimer raised her controlling her every move with an iron fist.

In Mortimer's later years he met and was charmed by a young blond beauty named Dina. During this distraction, Cassandra rebelled and against Mortimer's wishes she married the "man about town", Don Lothario. It was Don's wish to marry well and bed every woman in the town of Pleasantview.

Mortimer decided to make Dina his new bride, but he was never able to enjoy the new union with his young new wife. Mortimer received an invitation from the Grim Reaper , an invitation that we are unable to turn down. So Mortimer went off to another realm leaving his family behind.

Once Mortimer died, Cassandra assumed the position of being similar to her father in controlling the actions of her family and those living in the town. She had a stigma, an air of mystery, which kept the people curious.

Mortimer and Bella also had a son, Alexander. He is a quiet young man, whom spends long quiet nights in the library studying. He has a wish that he has not shared with Cassandra. He is certain she would not approve. Alexander decided to move to college where he can study and begin to learn how he can become a criminal mastermind. He wants to become a man that Pleasantview will never forget.

Alexander said goodbye to his sister and moved into the college dorm to start his plans for his future.

Once Alexander got to the college campus he began to settle in. His room was not furnished in the manner he was used to. This had to be taken care of. He began to redecorate his room and soon it was a bit more comfortable.

He decided it would be a good idea to have a big Halloween party on his first night, this might be a way to meet his new roomates.

He spent the rest of the day buying decorations and food for the big party. He changed into his Halloween costume and called his sister and asked her to come help him celebrate.

Don enjoyed himself, as he showed off for all the attractive young women on campus. Alexander made many new friends. He enjoyed himself dancing all night, because tomorrow he will have to get to business and begin to study hard for his future plans.
