Heart Battles

Air rushes in
As a mother’s arms reach out to hold a priceless life
Nestling a new beginning which is only moments old
Preparing to discover the offerings of this world

Walking and talking – Kisses and hugs
Newly formed notions burn into fledgling minds
Dueling ideas begin to form
Each holding tenaciously to stubborn opinions

A mother never grows accustomed
To wars between those she taught to love
On the battleground that beats within her heart
As she listens to reasons for sides to be taken

No wrong can she find in either combatant
No side can she take to tip the scales
Infused within each, her own mistakes
So her heart lies bleeding; while
her faults go to war
